Although they’ve only been absent from the zeitgeist for approximately 10 years, colorful jeans are already making a comeback. Frankly, the resurgence of trends from the year 2002 and earlier makes far more sense than bringing back a look that was laid to rest post-2012—yet here we are. Classic denim shades like blue, white, and black are taking a backseat to bold pops of color, transporting anyone who lived through 2010 back to the days of angsty alt bands and finger mustache tattoos. Too soon? Apparently not.
Thankfully, like any trend that’s made its way back around, today’s styles feel a bit more updated and elevated. Along with bright reds, greens, and pinks (having flashbacks yet?), you’ll also find trendier hues like dusty lavender and lime—plus a few colorful tie-dye and paint splatter options, too. Not to mention, brands are offering far fewer skinny jeans options. (After all, it’s 2022 and baggy jeans reign.)
In addition to all of these slight changes, we’re also seeing an abundance of plus-size colorful jeans pop up (!) from brands like Mango and Good American, among others. If you weren’t able to participate in this trend the first time, now’s your chance. Paired with a simple white tee, a corset top, or chunky knit vest, you can’t lose.
