We’re trading in our blouses for scarves this season—and it’s all very 2002. As early aughts trends continue to take over the zeitgeist, we’ve begun to embrace it. After all, tube tops, butterfly clips, and bandeau dresses are ridiculously adorable (and incredibly easy to style). So it only makes sense that cute scarf tops would have their moment in the sun again, too. These newly-resurged pieces aren’t exact replicas of the original trend, though. Rather, we’re seeing plus-size scarf tops pop up in of-the-moment hues and updated silhouettes—all perfect for our warm-weather wardrobes.
Honestly, how did we go nearly 20 years without having scarf tops readily available? Not only are they surprisingly sleek, but plus-size scarf tops are also majorly sexy. (Like, ooh la la.) They feel very much like a barely-there top, while managing to keep us (mostly) covered when we want to be. Some styles are a bit more minimal when it comes to coverage, of course—but others are no more revealing that a classic tank or tube top. So whatever vibe you’re feeling at the moment, there’s a handkerchief top with your name on it.
Not to mention, this trend pairs well with just about everything. Go full early 2000s with a scarf top, satin midi skirt, and chunky flip flops. Or, keep it casual and wear your scarf top with high-waisted jeans and sneakers. From date night to weekend coffee hangs, there’s are scarf top outfits for it all. (We love versatility!)
