It’s the Slip Dress’s World, and We’re All Just Living in It

While we can all agree that some really incredible things came out of the ’90s (*cough* Frasier), perhaps the most iconic was the slip dress. A bold statement? Maybe—but slip dresses are slinky, sexy, and fun. And frankly, there’s not much more anyone could ask for from a dress. Thankfully, plus-size slip dresses are bountiful these days.

Of course, this wasn’t always the case. When the trend first started showing up in straight sizes, we immediately went on the hunt for what felt like an impossible treasure. We looked at brand after brand—but it felt like we were getting nowhere. But, after scouring the Internet for what felt like weeks, we managed to find a few drool-worthy options. A year or so later, the selection is much larger. (!) From classic hues to bold, maximalist prints, there’s a little something for everyone. And though it took a while to get an abundance of sizes, we’re still very much obsessed with the trend.

As the plus-size clothing community grows, and more brands introduce extended sizes into their collections, it’s important to remember that there’s still a long way to go. We shouldn’t have to dig through the dredges of the web to find plus-size slip dresses, when there are thousands available in straight sizes. Everyone deserves to wear what’s trending—in this case, the slip dress—and have it available in their size. End of story.
