Thanks to the past year, there’s no doubt that tie-dye sweatpants are worth owning—and we have closets full of them to prove it. The loungewear favorite features a slouchy silhouette, cozy fabric, and vibrant color palette that definitely belong in every wardrobe (especially when paired with matching tie-dye sweatshirts). And it’s proven to all of us that fun and coziness are far from mutually exclusive. But now that this trend has been fully cemented into the zeitgeist, it’s no longer a question of whether or not to buy a pair of plus-size tie-dye sweatpants. Rather, we’re asking ourselves how many pairs is too many?
The short answer: This limit does not exist (seriously). You could cap your collection off at seven pairs—one for every day of the week with plenty of color options. At that rate, you’d have tie-dye sweats for Monday through Sunday. And isn’t that enough? Perhaps—until you realize that doing laundry more often is costing you an extra few bucks every week. Or you suddenly find yourself wishing you didn’t show up to a coffee shop wearing the exact same pair of sweatpants every Monday morning. (That barista thinks you’re cute, but are they noticing a strange pattern in your wardrobe?) Honestly, having an extra few pairs of plus-size tie-dye sweatpants could solve these problems.
Saving money on laundry and impressing your barista crush with your impeccable style make stocking up on tie-dye sweats totally worth it, in our opinion. And the more pairs you own, the more opportunities you have to mix it up. Plus, if you’re not wearing (and washing) the same pair of sweatpants once per week—and, instead, washing them once every few weeks—they’ll last longer. Frankly, by purchasing more loungewear, you could (maybe) end up with more money down the line. (Don’t check our math on this, thanks.)
The biggest reason it’s worth keeping a boatload of plus-size tie-dye sweatpants in your wardrobe at all times, though? They’re cute. That’s it. That’s the Tweet. Tie-dye joggers—no matter what color or style—are almost always absolutely adorable. Paired with your favorite graphic tee, a matching sweatshirt, or sexy bralette, you really can’t go wrong with this trend. So we’ll continue to shop it until our closets burst—and even then, maybe we’ll just get a bigger closet.
