If I were to pick my number one reason to love the fall and winter seasons, it would be—without a doubt—sweater weather. There’s absolutely nothing better than feeling the crisp air on your face while you’re cozied up in a warm ensemble. However, in my never-ending quest for the perfect cold-weather wardrobe, I have consistently noticed a lack of plus-size oversized sweaters.

On some level, I understand the lack of this availability. In the past (and today, too), plus-size women have been told not to wear anything baggy or “unflattering.” This would include, of course, oversized pullover sweaters and cardigans. What I don’t understand, though, is how, in the year 2020, so few brands—including those exclusively carrying plus-size clothes—have stepped up their game to adapt to the oversized sweater trend.

When my thin, straight-sized friends want to achieve the oversized sweater look, they typically just buy one or two sizes larger than their size. But when the size you wear is the largest one carried in a store—or not even available at all—how are you supposed to size up? Hint: You can’t.
