Far too few holidays occur in the summer, but we can always count on the Fourth of July to give us an excuse to throw (or attend) a multitude of get-togethers. Backyard BBQs, pool parties, weekends at the lake—they’re all quintessential ways we celebrate July Fourth. Of course, because this particular holiday falls during one of the hottest months of year, it’s likely every soiree you might attend will involve some sort of water-filled activity. It could be a dip in the pool with your BFFs or a sprinkler set up in the backyard. Either way, you might as well go ahead and stock up on a few plus-size Fourth of July swimsuits.
Typically when we craft our July Fourth outfits, swimwear isn’t necessarily involved. We opt for classic red, white, and blue ensembles that won’t leave us overheating in the July heat. But there’s no rule that says we can’t incorporate plus-size Fourth of July swimsuits into our looks. (!) After all, one-pieces are essentially bodysuits that you can swim in—and bikinis are incredibly easy to layer under our clothes. Plus, when it’s time jump in the lake or someone happens to spray you with the hose (a time-honored tradition in many families), you’ll be ready.
Whether you opt for a chic red bikini or a red, white, and blue floral one-piece, you’re sure to look ridiculously festive. In order to keep with the classic hues of the holiday, we’re considering any swimwear that’s red, white, or blue—or combinations of each—perfect for the Fourth of July. This, of course, doesn’t mean you can’t branch out and go for something less traditional. July Fourth should first and foremost be about having a great time with friends and family—and if that means a neon green swimsuit, then go for it.
For now, at least, we’ll be sticking to the OG July Fourth color palette when we shop our swimwear. And thankfully, there are plenty of absurdly cute options. No matter what you choose to wear, though, you can’t! Go! Wrong!
